Dr. Kathryn Neill Interprofessional Education
• Visit ipe.uams.edu for all questions concerning schedules, curriculum, and your college’s specific IPE framework.
• Students must be enrolled in the course in GUS, before you can get access to
course materials in Blackboard.
• The Office of Interprofessional Education works tirelessly to improve IPE
experiences for students and reads every comment that students write.

We are looking at doing Painting with a Twist as our 2nd Spring event.
• ASG held its first Ping Pong tournament, which was a success, there was great

Adam Carter Fitness Center Spring
• Discounted rate for the student center $30 one-time fee, 24/7
access to the facility until the end of May.
• Summer membership June-July $20 one-time fee
• Outdoor fitness court classes: Tuesdays/Thursdays 12:15-12:45 in
April, members and non-members. $20 for 4 class once a week.
(Outdoor fitness center is located next to the power plant on the
East side of campus 4th and Cedar intersection)
• May: Month-long fitness challenge for colleges and employee
departments, more information coming soon!
Jennifer Doughty Student Financial Services
• Late fees will be applied soon, do not forget to pay your graduation
fee! Log into your GUS account to verify that you do not have an
outstanding balance.
• Public Service Loan Forgiveness – eligible to full-time UAMS
employees and residents. Visit https://studentaid.gov for more

May 1st is the deadline to consolidate loans and make them
eligible for the PSLF plan.

• Dr. Caldwell is the new manager of Student Center. UAMS is very
excited to have her back! She previously spent 19 years working at
UAMS and is a graduate of the MPH and DPH programs at UAMS

• Serving as interim director of the library
• All library resources and services are available online
• Education and research services librarians – they can help with papers and
research in person or online
• The library is planning to have 24/7 open access to the library starting in April
• Relaxation and small group space are being added in April

• 60 PCs are available for student use, and laptops are available to daily checkout in the Student Success Center

• UAMS Commencement is Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 3 pm, Barton Coliseum,
Little Rock, AR
Tickers are not required, it will be live streamed
Student regalia order deadline is March 31st. Regalia must be worn at
UAMS commencement and each college’s ceremony

• 2023-2024 rate increase of $147 annually ($3,447 increased to $3,594)
Driving force behind price increase: prescription drug usage, physician
visits, and mental health
• Similar plan on the exchange would be between $5,200-$5,600)
• Changes to the plan:
Academic Life Care will be the new telehealth provider.
24/7 student assistance program where a therapist will be available
anytime.

• Breakfast at the Center- Jan. 31 from 8-11 am. No sign-up is needed. You must show UAMS Student App to participate.
• Chocolate Tasting – Feb. 17, 6-8 pm. Over 100 students have signed up so far!
• Intramurals update:
Basketball signups are still open. Sign up on the UAMS Student App via the
“forms” section.
Teams must include at least five players, and all players must be UAMS
students.
Games will be on Sundays through the month of February from 1-6 pm

• Virtual Hello Fresh event – Friday, February 24th,
from 6 – 8 pm
During the event, we will cook together, and a nutritionist will be on Zoom for
the event.
The Hello Fresh Meal kit will have two meals, each feeding two people.
No cost to students. A meal kit will be sent to each student’s home. Signups
will be up on the UAMS Student App soon.

Department of Education updates
• The student loan payments and interest pause is set to end Dec 31st,
2022
• Application for the one-time student debt relief should be sent out sometime this month and it will run through December 2023, the office advises students to get it filled out ASAP for more information about the program
• Public Service Load Forgiveness waiver will be open until the end of October of individuals who worked at a qualified institution or count towards public loan forgiveness. Visit the website for more information

ASG Representatives are expected to:
· Attend all ASG monthly meetings (will be held virtually)
· Report pertinent information back to respected colleges and assigned
officers (see Article Section 1 of constitution)
· Lead by example by following all student compliancy guidelines in an
timely fashion
· Participate in student initiatives sponsored by ASG and encourage
others to participate as well
· Uphold the student Code of Conduct on and off campus
· Post student events on student event app (this is the new platform for
announcing events). We have to get students excited about using it. Thus
far I’ve had to continue to push out email reminders to check the app. We
would like reps to send officers info to post onto App about
organizations and upcoming events. (Reps send info and officers post)
· Any excused meeting must be submitted in written format to the ASG
secretary, Kiwanna Norwood and Nakia Dedner prior to meeting time
· Before the end of term, representative must explain duties to incoming
representatives
· Representatives not meeting expectations are reported to their college
dean and discharged from the ASG. Please inform us asap if you cannot
meet the above guidelines
