2023-2024 Changes:
In spring of 2023 Katherine Leath, director of Center for Health Literacy developed a new free, online health education module “Insured and Informed: Your Health Insurance Guide.” This interactive module is designed to help young adults new to health insurance understand it and learn how to use it to take care of their health. 2018-2019 Changes:
- New Auto Bank Option Draft yield yearly savings of $48
- New monthly payment option
- Stipend increase for Graduate School students
- Associated Student Government added IPE Student Health Insurance Exposure Bridge activity (Student Insurance 101)
2016-2017 Changes:
UAMS Student Insurance Policy Standards Modification:
- Individual plan deductible decreased from $2,500 to $1,000
- The Out of Pocket maximum has changed from $2,500/$5,000 to $5,000/$12,700
- Merged into one policy in an effort to expand the pool
2014-2015 Changes:
UAMS Student Insurance Policy Standards Modification:
- Individual plan deductible increased from $1,000 to $2,500
Required Affordable Care Act (ACA) Plan Modifications
- The Maximum benefit has been increased from $500,000 to “unlimited” per policy year
- All per service deductibles / co-pays, coinsurance and policy deductibles apply toward the out of pocket maximum
- The Out of Pocket maximum has changed from $2,500/$5,000 to $4,000/$8,000
- Removed the policy maximum for Durable Medical Equipment, Dental and Elective Abortion
- Pediatric dental and vision benefits have been added to the plan. Dental – $500 deductible, 50% coinsurance for basic diagnostic, minor restorative, major restorative and orthodontic. Vision – Co payments of $20 for exam and $40 for materials.
- Changed out of network benefits for Rx and Preventive from “no benefits” to usual and customary
- Arkansas required benchmark changes / essential benefit changes have been added to the plan

- Dedicated Eligibility Specialist assigned to each client
- Extended hours during peak enrollment periods and reduced call wait time
- School specific 800 number (855-824-9679)
- Better measurement & monitoring of our incoming call service levels
- Quickly identify trends & opportunities for improving level of service
- Continued commitment to on-campus presence for orientations, presentations, Q&A forums and health fairs
