Volunteer Opportunities – Jennifer Huie - Ms. Huie, as Director of the Office of Volunteer Engagement and Auxiliary,
guides the office in assisting patients in need of support (in returning home, with clothing, with supplies, and more). - Volunteer roles include hospital unit volunteers, family resource center
volunteers, and wayfinders. Perks for student volunteers include service hours, recommendation letters, meal tickets, Volunteer Appreciation Week, a UAMS
volunteer t-shirt, potential study time, and knowledge of clinic locations and other hospital areas. - A recent UAMS Good Catch was a hospital volunteer.

Workday and the Student Survey – Dr. Kristen Sterba - Beginning in fall 2025, Workday Student will replace GUS. Workday Student is
separate from Workday Extended Enterprise Learning. As we go live with
Workday Student, those who are employees at UAMS may use the same
Workday profile as it’s all one system. - Everyone has been assigned onboarding and has likely already received an email asking them to complete this. This is required before each term (ensures FERPA compliance and up-to-date emergency contacts). If you do not complete this, you are not able to register. Make sure to plan early and check any holds.
- Summer enrollment will still use GUS.
- Online training resources are available.
- UAMS has released the biannual student survey in an email from the Provost, and the survey closes later in March. Responses are anonymous. Robust student participation is encouraged as responses will help improve the campus and student experience at UAMS. Dr. Sterba is the student lead.
