Our Mission

The mission of the UAMS Student Wellness Program (SWP) is to promote wellness in our students by providing the tools and support to help them maintain balance in their lives and achieve their full professional and personal potential.  The SWP provides two kinds of services to address this goal: Clinical Services and Outreach Services.

Our office is located behind the Burger King on W. Markham and across from the Fire Station and next to Biomed II.

For UAMS Northwest Students

For those students on the UAMS Northwest campus, the UAMS Northwest Wellness Program provides free counseling and therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and medication management services in a safe and nurturing therapeutic environment to actively enrolled UAMS residents and students. What do I do if I am currently experiencing an emergency?

If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

If you are otherwise in crisis (e.g., experiencing suicidal thoughts), you can:

  • Call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, 24/7
  • Chat at 988lifeline.org, 24/7
  • Text Home to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line, 24/7
  • Call the Student Wellness Program at 501-686-8408 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and tell us it’s urgent. Note that their are no front desk staff between 12-1. Leave a message and we’ll get back to you ASAP.
