SWP provides medical and behavioral treatment for ADHD. However, we do not provide confirmatory diagnostic assessments for ADHD. A confirmatory diagnostic assessment involves an extended face-to-face assessment with a qualified psychologist, as well as a follow-up meeting to discuss results. This kind of assessment can help tease out ADHD from learning disorders and mental health concerns like depression and anxiety. Other than offering clarity on your diagnosis, confirmatory diagnostic assessments can qualify you for disability accommodations at UAMS and, if appropriate, certain medications prescribed by SWP.
There are number of online companies advertising assessments for ADHD. The diagnostic reports they provide are insufficient for our purposes: they are not face-to-face, they are not comprehensive, and they typically lack the standard assessment tools that a qualified psychologist would use. Therefore, we can’t recommend any of them.
If you’d like to be assessed and treated for ADHD, we are happy to see you. However, if you’d like to pursue a confirmatory diagnostic assessment, you are welcome to do so via the resources below. You will have to use your insurance, and insurance typically does not pay for the entire service, so when you are setting up an appointment, ask what your costs will be. We have not worked with all of these providers; those with a “*” are those we have worked with in the past and received high quality confirmatory diagnostic assessments from.
If you have trouble paying for this option, check with your college about resources they might have.
